We dominated the competition Construction of the Year 2016
The company HOCHTIEF CZ won two main and two special awards at announcement of results of the competition “Construction of the Year 2016” held on October 13th, 2016.
The project called Kuks - Granátové jablko consisted of the most extensive restoration of the baroque complex Kuks in Trutnov region which is the national historic landmark. The construction works included reconstruction of the Hospital building and idle spaces – renovation of utilities, M&E, plasterworks, floor structures and boiler rooms´ assembly. A large part of the reconstruction was focused on restoration of historical elements, e.g. delicate exposure of baroque painting (fresco-secco) “Danse Macabre” or renovation of historical ceilings from the 18th century. The Investor of the project was the National Heritage Institute. In opinion of the jury, the project was awarded the Construction of the Year “thanks to reconstruction and revitalisation of exceptional cultural heritage with respect to creation of a new educational centre and operating facilities”.
Within reconstruction of the Municipal Stadium in Ostrava - Vítkovice, the football and athletics stadium from 1938 was the basis. The reconstruction included roofing of the northern and southern arch of terraces, modernization of sanitary facilities and construction of refreshment booths and facilities for a press centre. After the overall reconstruction, the stadium is equipped by 15,275 fully roofed seats, including 40 places for disabled people. During the first Golden Spike race which was held at the renovated stadium in Vítkovice, the following stars presented themselves – javelin thrower Barbora Špotáková, runner Pavel Maslák and the highlight of the race - Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. The Investors of the project were the Statutory City of Ostrava and Vítkovice Arena. The project was awarded the Construction of the Year title “for creation of a comprehensive modern multipurpose sports field with respect to architectural design and delicacy to the heritage during the execution”.
