For 3,500
students
How long does it take from the initial idea to build a new building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science through the first drafts of the execution, submission of an application for funding, acquisition of a decision to grant a subsidy up to tapping on the foundation stone? Nobody would trace it now. However, we know exactly that the construction period lasted for 20 months.

Description: |
On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary marking the founding of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, HOCHTIEF CZ embarked upon, in cooperation with its joint-venture partner, construction of a new multi-purpose building for the faculty. This expanded the modern campus by another 18,800 m² and provide 3,500 students and 200 staff with the appropriate environment for teaching and research. Classrooms, lecture rooms, computer study rooms and laboratories arranged in a systematic manner in a single complex ensure high-quality education and permit researchers to work in heavy and light laboratories and computer facilities. HOCHTIEF CZ was honoured to participate in the construction of this teaching and research facility, which provides appropriate background for students, teachers and potentially a number of new scientists. The project was co-funded by the European Union as part of the Research and Development for Innovations Operational Programme. |
